I'm Sat Singh, and I'm building SunshineFM — AI news, views, labs, tools, and weekend radio for Palm Springs Coachella.
That sounds like a lot. It is.
But the simple version is this: SunshineFM is where I'm thinking out loud about what AI means for the Coachella Valley — and building useful things with it along the way.
Every day, something ships out of Silicon Valley that will eventually land here. Maybe in our businesses. Maybe in our schools. Maybe in tourism, hospitality, healthcare, city government, music, media, or the way people work.
I don't write about AI in the abstract.
I write about AI arriving here — in this valley, in real time — and what it means for the people who live, work, build, visit, and occasionally complain about parking here.
SunshineFM has a few parts.
There's the newsroom: short signals on what the big AI companies are shipping, plus longer pieces when something deserves more than a few hundred words.
There are the labs: experiments, prototypes, AI apps, agentic utilities, local intelligence reports, and things that don't really have a category yet. Some of it works. Some of it doesn't. That's the point.
And then there's the radio.
I've wanted to run a radio station for as long as I can remember — from late-night DJing at a local station in San Clemente as a high school senior, to spending decades in the Los Angeles record industry.
Music and media have always been part of my wiring.
So SunshineFM is also weekend radio for the desert — programmed by how humans feel across a day, not just by genre or algorithm.
The bigger idea is this:
The Coachella Valley has never had a truly sustainable startup ecosystem. I think AI changes the math.
Agentic tools have collapsed the cost of experimentation. One founder with the right tools can now build what used to require a team, a term sheet, and months of runway.
That opens a door for places like ours.
SunshineFM is my way of walking through it in public.
Radio earns attention. The newsroom turns attention into understanding. The labs and tools turn understanding into things people can actually use.
That's the loop.
I'm building SunshineFM as the base for the valley's agentic startup ecosystem — for locals already building, for the workforce ready to learn, and for founders in LA, San Francisco, and beyond who are ready to stop visiting and start planting something here.
I don't have all the answers.
But I'm experimenting.
And yes — there will be merch.
